preventative care

Preventative medicine is the key to your pet's long-term health! Routine vaccines and wellness exams are a great start to keeping your pet healthy. Take these opportunities to ask us about nutrition, behavior and other issues.

Other screenings that should be addressed on a regular basis include parasite checks, heartworm and tick-borne disease testing, oral exams and bloodwork. Remember: It's much easier on both you and your pet to prevent disease rather than treat it!

COMPREHENSIVE care

All of us at Lyons Veterinary Clinic hope we don't need to see your pet outside of their regular wellness exams, but if your pet does become sick, we are here to meet their needs!

Some of the common problems we diagnose are treat are skin, eye, bladder, ear and respiratory infections. Whatever your needs are, we will work with you and your pet to restore their health as quickly as possible!

dental cleanings

Pet dental care may be more important than you think! Studies show that there is an association between oral health issues and the overall health of your pet. Oral care has a profound impact on our pet's general health. Periodontal disease may cause bacteria and toxins to enter the bloodstream which can potentially have deleterious effects on internal organs. Prophylactic dental care can prevent this and is extremely important for the overall health of your furry friend. This is why oral exams are always FREE at our clinic.

Did you know that 75% of pets have dental disease by three years of age? Infection and inflammation of the gums and supporting tissues of the teeth are caused by bacteria present in plaque and calculus (tartar). Dental disease begins when plaque and calculus are allowed to build up on the teeth, especially below the gum line. The first thing you might notice is bad breath, bleeding and redness of the gums. Without proper care this can lead to loosening and the eventual loss of teeth. The regular use of oral care products and routine dental cleanings when recommended by your pet's veterinarian are the best way to stay on top of your pet's oral health.

surgery

Our surgery team works hard to provide the best possible care for your pet. We focus on comfort and pain management before, during and after every surgical procedure we perform. Common surgical procedures include spays, neuters, mass removals, laceration repairs, abscess drainage and dental extractions.

We also have access to a traveling veterinary that performs more intricate surgeries for us such as TPLOs, TECAs and laparoscopic gastropexies.

ACUPUNTURE &
laser therapy

Picture
Pet acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used to treat animals, primarily dogs, cats, and horses. It involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow (Qi), promote healing, and relieve pain. This holistic treatment is often used for conditions like arthritis, muscle pain, digestive issues, anxiety, and post-surgical recovery.

Acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system, improving circulation, reducing inflammation, and balancing energy. It can be used alongside conventional veterinary treatments and is generally considered safe when performed by a trained veterinary acupuncturist like Dr. Shea.
Treatment frequency and duration depend on the condition being treated. Sessions are typically quick, lasting 15 to 30 minutes, and pets usually tolerate the procedure well.

Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment designed to reduce pain and inflammation and speed up the healing process. This treatment is quickly becoming the standard of care in both human and veterinary medicine. Our staff members administer laser therapy via a hand piece that emits this therapeutic infrared light in a fast, drug free and soothing treatment. The light can treat surface problems such as wound as well as deeper structures, penetrating through fur skin and fat if necessary to reach damaged tissue.

Dr. Shea and Dr. Duncan utilizes our laser to perform quick and painless acupuncture to her furry patients. Doing acupuncture by way of laser allows for us to greatly decrease treatment time; this is great for those wiggly uncooperating patients.

prp injections

we are lucky to be able to offer a non-invasive treatment that can treat your pet's tears, defects, degeneration of muscles, tendons or ligaments.

By concentrating a patient's own platelets and growth factors we are able to inject this plasma into their injured or affected joints to speed the healing process.

in clinic pharmacy

We are lucky to be able to prescribe and send patients home with the necessary medications they need. This means that as a client you do not need to drive to a separate pharmacy to pick up your pet's medications.

You can even request refills of your pet's medications from our PetPage App!

Picture

Retail store

We offer a convenient stop for you to pick up your pet's food, treats and toys without the need of traveling to town.

We do our best to keep up with industry standards and only carry products that are trusted by our primary vet, Dr. Duncan.

If we don't carry what you are looking for, let us know. We may be able to order it for you. It never hurts to ask!
