4th of JULY PET SAFETY TIPS

6/28/2021

Make sure all your pets are registered and your contact information is up-to-date, and that they are wearing visible ID such as collars and tags that display their name and microchip number clearly.
Other things to watch for during this holiday include:
  • Your pets ingesting alcohol, drugs, or food that is harmful for them
  • Keeping your pets away from smoke, hot grills, and fire
  • Prevention against bugs, especially mosquitoes that could carry heartworms!
  • Hydration & good food for them
  • Strategy to prevent high stress due to fireworks, crowds and the whole event.
Read the following infographic for more information on these:

As we all know, pets can get lost any day of the week, but especially on busy weekends like the 4th of July weekend. The added stress on our pets caused by fireworks, parades, and crowds makes it easier for our furry friends to get lost or escape. At Lyons Veterinary Clinic we urge you to keep your pet's ID tags up to date and we suggest you chip them so that when lost, people can bring pets to the clinic to be matched to their owners.
